In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, the province’s Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions has launched a new round of ads as part of a multi-year campaign to start the conversation and reduce the stigma surrounding overdose, and to remind those who use drugs, or who have loved ones who use drugs, that there are resources available.
Minister Tim McLeod says, ” You never know who may be struggling, and it’s important to know that help is available.” He adds that two Overdose Outreach Teams part of a pilot project were launched this year in Regina and Saskatoon. They reach out to clients who have recently overdosed, and connect them to counselling, programs and services to reduce their risk of future overdose and drug-related harms.
