Saskatchewan residents are waking up to the strong smell of smoke again on Sunday after days of heavy smoke in the air altering the view of the sun and turning the moon, when it could be seen, orange. A plume of wildfire smoke continues to affect most of Saskatchewan. Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. In fact there are special weather statements involving air quality for almost all of the prairie provinces again today as well as about half of British Columbia and into the Northwest Territories as well as northern Ontario. The Environment Canada forecast shows the wildfire smoke should start to ease on Monday for some areas of southern and central Saskatchewan and showers forecast for mid-week for the Saskatoon region. There are 24 wildfires burning in Saskatchewan as of Sunday morning and none are listed as out of control. There have been 422 wildfires in the province to date with 361 the five year average.
