Labour Day evening is one of the few days in Saskatoon that residents are actually able to legally light fireworks on private property.
They are also permitted on Victoria Day and Canada Day from dusk to 11 p.m. and on New Year’s Eve to 15 minutes after midnight.
The Saskatoon Fire Department reminds the public that low-hazard fireworks are allowed this evening (Mon) between dusk and 11 p.m.
Safety tips include following the manufacturer instructions, ensure that it is not windy, and spectators aren’t too close, and choose your location wisely.
That includes familiarizing yourself with the space requirements for the type of firework being discharged and ensuring your location is free of overhead obstructions, is clear side-to-side and is a safe distance from combustible materials.
