The Saskatoon Police Service says the accident involving a cyclist and a passenger vehicle was fatal.

The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday evening at the intersection of 19th Street West and Avenue P South. The 36-year-old man on the bicycle suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim’s family has been notified and police will not be releasing the name of the 36-year-old man.

Traffic restrictions were in place from 17th Street to 20th Street on Avenue P South for several hours and while the Collision Analyst Unit wrapped up its on-scene examination by 1 a.m. this morning (Thursday), the investigation continues.
