It was 10 long hours between when the call came in and the fire was out for Saskatoon fire fighters. The blaze erupted at a residence at 519 Bayfield Crescent in Briarwood. 9-1-1 calls started at 11:37 Sunday night. In all, five engines were brought to the scene with multiple fire crews responding over the length of the fight, providing rehabilitation and relief to firefighters working the scene. They dealt with heavy smoke and continuous heat, pushing them out of the building all while wind was whipping the flames. Utilities were shut down and the supply lines were damaged by the heat. The fight wasn’t done until 10:30 Monday morning. There were no injuries. Damage is estimated at $550 thousand. There is no cause determined yet.
