CUPE 882 says it is glad its letter to the Minister of Labour has borne fruit.
The union was asking Don McMorris to appoint a special mediator to help resolve the labour dispute between CUPE 882 and the City of Prince Albert. The Union wants a 12 per cent increase. The City in its latest offer suggest 11.5 per cent minus some other concessions.
On Friday, September 15, the union received a letter from the Ministry indicating Kristin Anderson, Executive Director of Labour Relations and Mediation would be brought on to assist the parties in the conciliation process. “
In a news release, National Representative Mira Lewis said, “We are hopeful that with Ms. Anderson’s support we can have a productive bargaining meeting with the employer and resolve this dispute in a timely matter.”
A meeting with Ms. Anderson is scheduled for Wednesday,
The union commenced job action on September 11. The full withdrawal of services involves inside workers at Prince Albert City Hall, EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts, Frank Dunn Pool, Alfred Jenkins Field House, and the Art Hauser Centre.
