Saskatoon’s fire chief is a national award winner! On Tuesday, Morgan Hackl (pictured) was presented with the 2023 National Fire Chief-of-the-Year Award by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. Hackl, who has been chief of the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) since 2015, was recognized for re-imagining and expanding the roles of the SFD in non-traditional public safety initiatives through community collaboration and outreach partnerships. That was in keeping with the national body’s theme of partnerships and community safety and well-being. By embracing creative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking under Chief Hackl’s direction, the SFD continually found new ways to support and provide leadership in community safety. Hackl has been a member of the SFD for 35 years.
