Two of three people charged in connection to a robbery and shooting in Prince Albert made their first court appearance on Monday.
Prince Albert Police say around 9 p.m. on September 8th, officers responded to the 400 block of 13th Street West and were told a male victim was approached by two strangers and forced to hand over property. One suspect then shot the victim in the leg and then the two fled – one on foot and one on a bike. The victim was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The Prince Albert Police Service says given the random nature of the offence and the violence even though the victim cooperated with the suspects’ demands, as well as close proximity to a school, a large number of resources were deployed to respond to this investigation. Several hours of video evidence was collected from the surrounding area, witness statements and forensic evidence was collected. In addition, search warrants were executed at three homes leading to further evidence.
Investigators have arrested and charged 20-year-old Michael Fourstar and 28-year-old Jonathan Napope and are looking for the third suspect, 19-year-old Skylar Halkett. There is a warrant for his arrest and all three face charges of robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to endanger a life and possession of a firearm.
