The Saskatchewan Government is reminding families with active children that they can access the Active Families Benefit, a tax credit that aims to keep recreation, culture, and sporting activities more affordable.
Premier Scott Moe says the benefit is available to families with an annual income up to $60,000. Families can receive up to $150 per year, for each child 18 years or younger, or $200 per year for children who are eligible for the federal Child Disability Tax Credit.
“Being healthy in our communities has a huge impact on a child’s development and has a tremendous impact on our children’s overall wellbeing,” Moe stated at Lakewood Civic Centre alongside City of Saskatoon Councillor Troy Davies and local MLA Lisa Lambert.
The government has earmarked $4 million to fund the benefit program, and there are 35,000 children province wide that can qualify.
