Eight provinces experienced a drop in wholesale merchants’ sales in October. Saskatchewan was one of them, with a decline of 7.5 per cent. Only Nova Scotia had a steeper drop. Nationally, the average was a drop of 1.1 per cent. Our decline was preceded by two consecutive monthly increases. The miscellaneous subsector recorded the largest decrease which was the second monthly decline. Year-to-year, the drop was 5.2 per cent here. We, Manitoba, and BC were the only provinces heading into negative territory. Nationally there was an average increase of 1.2 per cent. Total sales in Saskatchewan rang in at about $2.2 billion dollars.
