If you’ve had trouble catching a bus in the morning in Saskatoon since school started this fall, you’re not alone.
At the recent City Council meeting Saskatoon City Councilor Mairen Loewen says she has been contacted about problems in Stonebridge. Terry Schmidt General Manager, Transportation and Construction says there are numerous strategies to deal with the issue including adding buses to build in extra capacity. They also suggest transit users try using an earlier or later bus and then the city works with the schools to accommodate that.
He says if riders want help with planning a route the transit app is a great tool and they are also welcome to call customer service. Schmidt says they have supervisors going out on the routes with full capacity because if people are standing in the bus and the driver can’t see to the back, there are sometimes empty seats at the back after people have gotten off. The supervisors help streamline usage of available seating in order to maximize capacity on the bus.
