Tenants were officially welcomed into their newly-renovated homes in North Battleford Tuesday, part of the program to provide improved access to affordable housing in the city with funding from the federal and provincial governments.
The opening marked the completion of renovations to 18 three-bedroom and two, four-bedroom semi-detached units. Three-point-two million dollars of funding was provided to the project by the National Housing Strategy (NHS) and Canada Community Housing Initiative (CCHI) while a matching three-point-two million dollars was provided by the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation through the CCHI. Representatives from the City of North Battleford and Battleford Housing Authority were joined by The Battlefords MLA Jeremy Cockrill. Renovations to 370 existing family and senior affordable housing units across Saskatchewan are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
