Saskatoon’s Mayor is back from Copenhagen where he and other Saskatchewan representatives were studying the Danish capital because of its innovative urban design, to become a healthy, active and connected city. Copenhagen is known as one of the world’s most livable cities.
Charlie Clark says it made him think about places like Meewasin, River Landing, some of the newer neighbourhoods and also the work on a possible downtown entertainment district. He suggests the city has some successes but needs to be ambitious about what we create for the future to become a competitive, attractive city to entice businesses, which creates jobs and builds the economy.
The joint research team which travelled to Copenhagen included representatives from the University of Saskatchewan, the City of Saskatoon and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The trip was financed by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
