There were two people charged with assaulting a police officer in Saskatoon in two separate incidents. Around 11:40 a.m., Tuesday police were called to the 33-hundred block of 33 Street West by paramedics trying to medically assess a man who was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant but was not cooperating.
He was arrested for public intoxication and while being processed in police detention, the Saskatoon Police Service says he aggressively advanced on an officer and intentionally hit the Constable in the face causing a minor injury. The 31-year-old has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
And at 2:30 Monday afternoon, patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious person near the intersection of Salisbury Place and Salisbury Drive in the Brevoort Park neighbourhood. Officers located a man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant and while trying to arrest him, an officer was again intentionally struck in the face. There was a brief struggle, and a 36-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with assaulting a police officer.
