A 21-year-old man has been charged with a fatal vehicle/pedestrian collision in La Ronge last Friday, September 29th.
Upon further investigation, RCMP determined the vehicle had been stolen. It hit another vehicle after the collision involving the pedestrian. The 56-year-old man who was walking died the following day in hospital. Another person in the second vehicle had non-life threatening injuries.
James Misponas from the La Ronge District is facing several charges:
– one count, operation of a conveyance with blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg causing death, Section 320.14(3), Criminal Code;
– one count, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, Section 320.13(3), Criminal Code;
– two counts, operation of a conveyance while impaired causing bodily harm, Section 320.14(2), Criminal
Code;
– two counts, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal
– two counts, failure to stop of the scene of an accident causing bodily harm, Section 320.16(2), Criminal Code;
– two counts, failure to stop of the scene of an accident causing death, Section 320.16(3), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of stolen property over $5,000, Section 354(1), Criminal Code; and
– one count, possession of stolen property under $5,000, Section 354(1), Criminal Code.
Misponas appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday.
