RCMP members from Meadow Lake and La Ronge performed a traffic stop around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night as part of proactive patrols on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. They say officers saw illicit drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle and arrested the woman driving and her male passenger.
Officers located and seized approximately 244 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three prohibited firearms, ammunition, weapons including brass knuckles, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia. A photo of the seized items is in our online story.
22-year-old Lexis Storoschuk from Spruce Home and 43-year-odl Kevin Ackegan from Saskatoon were in Prince Albert court on Thursday facing a variety of weapons and drug charges as well as resist/obstruct a peace officer.
Lexis Storoschuk and Kevin Ackegan are each charged with:
– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, Section 94(2), Criminal Code;
– three counts, unlicensed possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
– two counts, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, Section 108(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(3), Criminal Code; and
– one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code.
Kevin Ackegan is also charged with four counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code and four counts, possession of a weapon contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code. He was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.
