Two wins this week have vaulted the Saskatoon Blades from a tie for last place in the East Division to a tie for first place.
The Bridge City Bunch’s fourth win in six starts came Saturday night, in front of 5,048 fans at SaskTel Centre, a 6-1 triumph over the Regina Pats. The Blue and Gold scored three times in each of the first two periods to coast to the triumph, out-shooting The Regiment 51-15 in the process. Defenceman Tanner Molendyk (pictured) looked like a high-scoring forward when he broke the ice on the scoreboard just 2:40 into the contest. Brandon Lisowsky added two tallies to prompt Regina to replace starting goaltender Ewan Huet with Kelton Pyne to start the second period. But, Pyne fared no better than Huet as Tyler Parr, Jordan Keller and Lukas Hansen sniped for the Blades, now 4-2-0 for the season – tied with Prince Albert and Moose Jaw, both of them 4-3-0. Tanner Howe broke Austin Elliott’s shutout bid 20 seconds into the third period, the lone highlight for the 3-3-1 Pats, the same record as Brandon. Saskatoon starts an upcoming three-game week on Wednesday with a visit to Edmonton. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Brennan Sonne, Molendyk and Parr plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
