As students got back to class in September, Battlefords RCMP focused on school safety last month.
They say this was in addition to responding to regular calls for service, of which there were 1,796 from September 1st through September 30th. Last month officers worked with local schools which includes working on updated their School Action for Emergencies (SAFE) plans. These plans are for police response to schools in emergency situations. With these plans, the RCMP say they have also been assisting various schools throughout the area with practicing Emergency Lockdown procedures.
Battlefords Detachment also conducted targeted traffic enforcement in school zone in their enforcement area which included both written warnings as well as tickets.
