The leader of the Saskatchewan Progress Party is stepping down. Jeff Walters says it is a continuation of the re-branding, because he was the leader when they were the provincial Liberal party. In a letter to supporters, Walters says on the threshold of a provincial election, he believes it is essential for the party to fully embrace change and renewal.
The leadership convention will be November 18th followed by a policy convention on the 19th. Walters says the re-branding has been going well so far. He jokes that it is refreshing to talk with people who don’t derail the conversation immediately because the term Liberal comes up. The deadline for leadership candidate nominations is November 1st at 5 p.m. All members in good standing as of November 8th will be eligible to vote in the leadership race.
