Saskatoon’s Farmers Market will be a modern scene of historical and religious significance on Sunday.The first night of Hanukkah will be observed with the lighting of a 20-foot-tall menorah.Rabbi Rapheal Kats and Mayor Charlie Clark will ride a fork-lift for the kindling ceremony. Rabbi Kats says everyone is welcome to dance, sing and eat the night away following the lighting as there will be an abundant supply of fried potato pancakes and jelly doughnuts.He says the ceremony proves Saskatoon is a place where people can practice their faith freely and with pride.Members of Parliament, the Legislative Assembly and City Council will also be on hand for the community-wide event which starts at 5 p.m.
