The Congregation Agudas Israel Jewish Community Centre in Saskatoon is one of the hosts of a virtual discussion tonight (Thurs) about antisemitism. It was organized after the Government of Saskatchewan adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism but becomes even more timely with the Israel-Hamas war, which began October 7th with a surprise attack that morning when a barrage of at least 3,000 rockets launched from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip against Israel.
Justice Minister Bronwyn Eyre and Parks, Culture and Sport Minister, Laura Ross are two of the nine speakers along with representatives from the Regina and Saskatoon Jewish communities, and Irwin Cotler, the founder of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. The provincial government adopted the IHRA definition of antisemitism last December. At that time, Minister Eyre said, “Antisemitism is on the rise and must be condemned, along with all forms of intolerance and hatred.
Everyone is invited to join the discussion online tonight at 7 pm.
