As Christmas draws closer it could feel more like March in some parts of southern Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada’s Terri Lang says the warm temperatures are a result of the jet stream shifting.
She says the jet stream is the delineator between cold air to the north and warm air to the south and everything is shifting further north and east resulting in milder air flooding southern Saskatchewan. Lang warns with the potential for a freeze thaw cycle over the coming days, roads and sidewalks may have black ice on them.
Lang also points out it could be a brown Christmas because the snow could be gone in some areas after the jet stream shift and chinook winds blow in.
