Environment Canada says the weather is flipping significantly next week, and Saskatchewan residents should watch for potential snow.
Meteorologist Brian Proctor says a strong arctic vortex is developing in the western arctic and an arctic high will slide southeast straight down the foothills plunging all of the western prairies in cold air.
He says through the end of October, we will see well below normal temperatures, and flurries are expected to be on and off. He adds that the weather will resemble a typical late fall and early winter.
Proctor says for instance daytime highs in Saskatoon at this time of year should be around +9 and overnight lows of -2. He says looking at the overnight lows right now for Tuesday and Wednesday next week, they could be below freezing in the -9 to -12 range.
