Saskatoon Police Service says one man is facing several charges after a break in at a home on Friday night.
Officers were called around 10:15 p.m. on Friday to a B&E in the 100 block of Mackie Crescent where homeowners told police that an unknown masked man had broken in and was demanding money while threatening them with a hatchet.
Police say the 73-year-old victim forced the suspect out of the home using a knife and the suspect fled with a small amount of cash and a purse.
Patrol and Canine officers located a suspect trying to hide in a home about six blocks away and they believe he was under the influence of an intoxicant displaying combative and aggressive behavior towards police, paramedics and medical personnel in the hospital, during and after being taken there. The suspect was treated for a minor injury. The victims were not hurt.
A 31-year-old man is charged with Break and Enter, Wearing a Disguise to Commit a Crime and Breach of Conditions.
