An Australian company, Basin Energy Limited has announced signing an Exploration Agreement with Athabasca Denesuline First Nations and Athabasca communities in northern Saskatchewan.
The agreement is to share and facilitate mutually beneficial, sustainable and safe exploration activities.
Basin Energy is a uranium exploration and development company which is interested in the Athabasca Basin, which currently supplies about 20 per cent of the world’s uranium.
A news release from Basin Energy says the agreement formalizes the process for consultation, environmental management and information sharing, and provides a framework to ensure the meaningful participation of the northern communities in the projects by providing economic, employment and training opportunities to support community development initiatives.
