The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to a structure fire in the 200 block of Avenue L South. Fire crews reported heavy smoke in the air as they came on scene with heavy flames showing from a house. Within 10 minutes of getting the call the fire crews were protecting neighbouring structures. Fire crews and a Fire Investigator have determined that there were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire. To completely put out the fire, an excavator was requested to pull the structure apart. The Saskatoon Fire Department says the Fire Investigator cannot conduct an investigation due to the extent of the damage and for safety reasons. The damage estimate is $200,000. Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service.
