The police officer was injured during an altercation with a suspect inside the police station on Wednesday morning.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incidence Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the incident, which it calls an “an officer-involved shooting”. It occurred around 9:30 this morning while the arrested individual was being processed. That person was arrested during what Estevan Police termed as a “serious incident” on Sixth Street in Estevan around 7am on Wednesday.
Both the individual and police officer suffered serious injuries and were transported to Regina hospital via STARS Air Ambulance. There is no word on the suspect’s condition or a person injured during the first incident. SIRT will provide future updates at a later date.
