A 56 year old man had to be taken to hospital after confronting robbery suspects Sunday afternoon. The case actually began with a separate incident over the noon hour when police were told of an attempted street robbery on the 100 block of Central Avenue. Two men said they were approached by three teens, one of whom was armed with a knife. They demanded cigarettes before running off. About a half hour later, three teens entered a business on the 800 block of Central Avenue and are alleged to have started filling a backpack with alcohol. The 56 year old confronted them and its alleged he was threatened with a firearm. He chased the suspects when they left, and caught up to them on the 100 block of 111th Street West where it’s alleged he was assaulted. Officers located the suspects in a nearby apartment where police say the found a handgun and the stolen alcohol. The 56 year old’s injuries were not life-threatening.
