Woman Stabbed, Purse Stolen

Saskatoon Police say a woman who was stabbed during a robbery at an apartment building in the 17-hundred block of 22nd Street West suffered life-threatening injuries. Police were called to a report of a loud fight in the hallway of an apartment building around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, but there was no one there when they arrived. Moments later, an injured woman was found across the street in a parking lot, suffering from a stab wound. She was transported to hospital. The 29 year old told police that she knew the woman who stabbed her before stealing her purse and taking off.

Stabbing in Lawson Heights

A 37 year old man is in hospital after being stabbed Sunday evening by someone, police say, is known to him. Police were called around 7:30 p.m. and when they got to the 200 block of Primrose Drive, a man was lying on the sidewalk with bystanders trying to administer first aid to the victim who had suffered stab wounds. Police continue to investigate the altercation.

Store Robbery Linked to Separate Investigation

A 56 year old man had to be taken to hospital after confronting robbery suspects Sunday afternoon. The case actually began with a separate incident over the noon hour when police were told of an attempted street robbery on the 100 block of Central Avenue. Two men said they were approached by three teens, one of whom was armed with a knife. They demanded cigarettes before running off. About a half hour later, three teens entered a business on the 800 block of Central Avenue and are alleged to have started filling a backpack with alcohol. The 56 year old confronted them and its alleged he was threatened with a firearm. He chased the suspects when they left, and caught up to them on the 100 block of 111th Street West where it’s alleged he was assaulted. Officers located the suspects in a nearby apartment where police say the found a replica handgun and the stolen alcohol. The 56 year old’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Store Employee Stabbed Repeatedly

A heavy coat the man was wearing probably saved him from more serious injuries as he was being stabbed Sunday morning. Saskatoon Police say, around 8:30, they were called to a robbery in-progress at a convenience store on the 33 hundred block of Fairlight Drive. An employee there reported three males entered the store, demanded cash, and began assaulting him. Additional officers were called in and they quickly located two suspects. One was arrested and the second was arrested a short time later after he tried to flee. Police say that store surveillance shows suspects trying to stab the victim repeatedly. At least two suspects were armed with knives. The victim was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services for treatment of injures that were not life-threatening. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, face charges including Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace. The third suspect is still at large.
