A traffic stop in the 1100 block of 22nd Street West Wednesday night led to a weapon and drug investigation and two arrests. Saskatoon Police report that patrol officers conducted a traffic stop and observed the driver had a bag with suspected illicit drugs.
Two men, 29 and 31 years old, were taken into custody and officers say a firearm, ammunition, about 0.7 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, $1,000, two cell phones, hotel room cards and a box of nearly 9,000 illicit cigarettes were seized.
A search warrant was then executed on a hotel room in the 300 block of Shillington Crescent in the Blairmore neighbourhood, where police seized almost 57 grams of cocaine, 575 millilitres of codeine phosphate, $2900, a digital scale and other items consistent with drug trafficking. Then when processing the two men into Detention, the Saskatoon Police Service says officers seized around 20 grams of cocaine from the 29-year-old. The two men from Alberta are facing numerous drug and weapons-related charges.
