The Saskatoon Blades scored the game’s first four goals, then held off the visiting Prince George Cougars just enough to record a 5-3 victory Friday night before 4,516 fans at SaskTel Centre.
The victory earned the Bridge City Bunch a sweep of back-to-back contests against the two W-H-L teams with “Prince” in their city name on back-to-back nights. The Blue and Gold bounced the Raiders 7-2 in Prince Albert on Thursday. The 10-5-0 Blades got first goals of the season from defenceman Charlie Wright plus forwards Misha Volotovskii and Rowan Calvert while Tyler Parr (pictured) added his second goal of the campaign and Egor Sidorov’s 10th snipe was a critical insurance marker in the third period as the 11-5-0 Cats attempted to mount a comeback. Prince George scored twice on the power play and out-shot Saskatoon 29-23 as they dropped to 2-2-0 on their East Division road trip with one game remaining Saturday night in Prince Albert. The Blades return to action Sunday when they welcome the Regina Pats to SaskTel Centre. Game time is 4 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast starting at 3:45 with the Palliser Rooms E-Q-3 Cutting Edge Pre-Game Show. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast plus Post-Game Show conversations with acting head coach Dan Da Silva, Wright and Parr plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
