Saskatchewan will increase the minimum age to buy tobacco and vapour products after receiving recommendations from Youth4Change and various health experts.
Both parties voted in favor of the legislative amendment which will move the legal purchase age from 18 years of age to 19. The changes will also provide greater clarity to existing restrictions on advertising and promoting vapor products to youth.
Health Minister Everett Hindley says vapour products introduce young people to the dangers of nicotine addiction.
A news release says the legislative changes will come into force at a later date—but did not specify that date.
