Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has appointed Michael Tochor, a Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench judge, as the new Associate Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench for the province.
This is a new position authorized by the Budget Implementation Act in 2022, which included increasing the number of judges for certain superior courts, including an Associate Chief Justice for the Court of King’s Bench in Saskatchewan.
A news release from the Prime Minister’s Office, says Chief Justices and Associate Chief Justices are responsible for the leadership and administration of their courts and they also serve as members of the Canadian Judicial Council, which works to improve the quality of judicial services in the superior courts of Canada.
