Candles are a tradition for both Christmas and Hanukkah, so the Saskatoon Fire Department is cautioning everyone to be mindful of fire safety. Put the candles out when you aren’t around, because as the Fire Department says, unattended candles have the potential to make your holiday not so merry and bright. Consider where you are placing your candles to make sure there are no combustible materials around.

If you are the one doing most of the cooking, stay on top of your tasks to prevent a burnt offering and use a timer to act as a reminder in monitoring your meal.
