The last of three men involved in last Wednesday’s homicide in La Ronge has been arrested. John McDonnell will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court Thursday to answer to a manslaughter charge in the death of 42-year-old Randy Halkett of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
Officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) and the La Ronge detachment arrested McDonnell Tuesday in La Ronge. The 35-year-old suspect, along with 24-year-old Garrett McDonnell and 28-year-old Jared Gale – all of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band – were charged with manslaughter after Halkett was found injured in a residence at about 8:20 a.m. on November 8. Both Garrett McDonnell and Jared Gale have made court appearances with Garrett McDonnell next scheduled to appear via CCTV on November 23.
