The set-up man out-shone the goal-scorer and the biggest point-getter as the Saskatoon Blades doubled the Tri-City Americans 6-3 Tuesday night.
Captain Trevor Wong registered his 200th career W-H-L point, assisting on Easton Armstrong’s empty-net tally. It was the 20-year-old Wong’s second helper of the night. Armstrong, meanwhile, assisted on all three of Egor Sidorov’s (pictured) goals. It was the 19-year-old Anaheim Draft pick’s third hat trick of the season while Armstrong had a four-point outing. Lukas Hansen opened the scoring for the Bridge City Bunch and Vaughan Watterodt ended a 17-game goal-less drought off of a nifty 2-on-1 feed from Fraser Minten, who upped his points streak to eight games, the last two games as a member of the Blue and Gold following Friday’s trade with Kamloops. The Blades, who out-shot the 13-9-2 Ams 38-32, upped their road trip record to 2-2-1 and improved their overall mark to 17-8-1, moving them ahead of Medicine Hat into first place in the W-H-L’s Eastern Conference. Saskatoon is right back at it Wednesday, playing their sixth and final U-S Division opponent in Spokane against the Chiefs.
