Saskatoon’s Director of Emergency Management says it’s good to know if there were problems with the notifynow test on Tuesday in Saskatoon because that allows them to get ahead of the issues before needing to use the system in an actual emergency.
Some people received the alert on their landlines in the time frame expected which was around 1:30, others received emails shortly before 3:30 p.m. and at 3:50 p.m. while one individual got an email of the test just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Pamela Goulden-McLeod says they want the message to go out as quickly as possible to the various platforms so in an actual emergency she expects through the text, phone call and email to have the message delivered in 15 to 20 minutes.
If you’ve signed up with more than one way to have the message delivered, the system, once it has successfully made contact, will deliver via the other avenues later. And in terms of best platform to use Goulden-Mcleod says the best way to get the message is the one which works most effectively for the individual.
If you don’t think you received your notifynow message in a timely manner Goulden-McLeod encourages Saskatoon residents to email emo.eoc@saskatoon.ca
