With the freezing rain warning followed by snow in the forecast, the City of Saskatoon says its road crews are monitoring the situation and will respond to changes in the driving conditions. The City says icy conditions can develop due to the combination of moisture and cold road surface, even when the air temperature is above freezing.
The day and night crews will be monitoring conditions and applying salt as required, focusing on high speed and high traffic streets, bridges and intersections long priority streets. If the snow accumulates, the snowplows and graders will come out.
The City reminds drivers to adjust their speed to the conditions and keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you and watch for blue and amber flashing lights on road maintenance equipment and give them room to do their work safely.
