Speaking with reporters from COP28 in Dubai Friday morning Premier Scott Moe was asked about the provincial government’s relationship with the federal government where they are at loggerheads.
He says the oil and gas policy introduced this week is the wrong policy to have and risks Canada’s national energy security. He says they do try to work with the federal government but “they need to answer the phone.”
“Our energy minister had a five-minute phone call with his counterpart, (who) would not only share none of the details with respect to the policy that was coming forward but wouldn’t even share the date or the time on when they were going to announce it,” Moe said.
Moe says this is not a federal government that is serious on a national stage, and they see that in Dubai. “This is not a federal government that is serious about governing in the best interests of Canadians. And we see that with policies being layered on, one after the other, that are ultimately risking our national energy security. I would say this is not a federal government that should be elected in the next election.
The COP 28 conference runs until Tuesday in Dubai.
