The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation says job action by teachers is virtually inevitable.
STF President Samantha Becotte issued a statement Thursday saying talks around a provincewide collective agreement have concluded and the government’s unwillingness to compromise has put teachers in an impossible position.
She says the government hasn’t moved from its original position and won’t negotiate on issues such as class size, classroom complexity, support for students and violence in the classroom. Becotte says they will await the Conciliation Board’s report and while doing so STF will finalize the strategy for implementing sanctions.
STF’s president also alluded to teachers not being allowed to freely discuss the issues facing the education sector which is a signal collective bargaining is not working.
