A Political Science professor at the University of Saskatchewan says Premier Scott Moe and N-D-P Leader Ryan Meili will need to clearly articulate their positions to voters.
Greg Poelzer says the fall sitting of the legislature was an indication of what they oppose.
Poelzer feels voter fatigue and indifference could come into play for the Saskatchewan election in the fall of 2020.
He points to the federal election as proof the electorate needs something to vote for.
Poelzer suggests a decrease in voter turnout for the federal election was a sign that people weren’t impressed with any of the party leaders.
The decrease ended a 15-year trend of increases at the polls.
Although there were significant declines in voter turnout in some predominantly First Nations ridings, the number of Indigenous candidates increased.
The provincial election on November 2rd will be followed by municipal elections one week later.
