Yesterday (Thurs) afternoon, Regina Police Service responded to two elementary schools in north Regina where weapons were involved, and are now updating that two girls, 12 and 13 years old have been charged. The 12-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon. The 13-year old is charged with obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with conditions.
Police say there was a report of a 12-year-old girl being bear sprayed by two girls while in the playground at the first school on Thursday. A short time later the two were seen at a nearby school and witnesses reported one of the suspects had a firearm. There was a short foot pursuit and due to the serious nature and the possible presence of weapons, a police dog was used in the arrest and one suspect was treated for a dog bite.
Both schools were in a ‘secure-the-building’ mode for a short period of time during these incidents.
