Two of the few members of the 2023 edition of the Saskatchewan Roughriders to perform at an acceptable level have been re-signed by the Green and White for 2024.
Import defensive back Amari Henderson and import defensive lineman Miles Brown have inked contract extensions with the Riders. Both are going into their third seasons in Saskatchewan. Following are the news releases from the Roughriders…..

SECONDARY STANDOUT: RIDERS EXTEND AMARI HENDERSON
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back Amari Henderson to a contract extension.
Henderson (6’1-182) spent the last two seasons (2022-23) with the Roughriders after initially signing with the Club in January of 2022. In 29 games in Green and White, Henderson recorded 77 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, 10 pass knockdowns, and one fumble recovery. In 2023, the 26-year-old was named PFF’s Coverage Player of the Week in Week 10 after only allowing two receptions in coverage for -2 yards.
Henderson initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, spending time on the Club’s practice roster. In 2021, Henderson signed with the Minnesota Vikings and played in one preseason game.
The North Carolina native was a standout collegiate player at Wake Forest University where he spent five seasons (2015-19), playing in 46 career games. As a senior, he was named Second-Team All-ACC by Phil Steele after making 40 defensive tackles, four interceptions, 14 passes defended, and a fumble recovery. His team-leading four interceptions ranked second in the ACC, while his 14 passes defended was fifth in the ACC. He finished up his senior year with an invite to the NFLPA Bowl.
Henderson graduated with 169 career defensive tackles, while ranking fourth in school history with 48 passes defended (7 interceptions, 41 pass knockdowns) and third in school history with 41 pass knockdowns.

RIDERS SIGN DEFENSIVE LINEMAN MILES BROWN TO EXTENSION
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Miles Brown to a contract extension.
Brown (6’2-320) played the last two seasons (2022-23) with the Green and White, suiting up in 25 games and recording 43 tackles, four tackles for loss, six sacks and two fumble recoveries. This season, Brown was named to Pro Football Focus’ Honour Roll in Week 13 after earning the highest grade (84.9) among all CFL defenders.
The 26-year-old began his pro career after he was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He suited up for nine regular-season games, making four tackles. The Maryland native went on to spend time with the Tennessee Titans (2020) and the Detroit Lions (2021).
Brown spent four collegiate seasons at Wofford College (2015-2018) where he started in 49 of the 50 games he played. Over that time, he made 174 defensive tackles, including 38 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, two pass deflections and two forced fumbles. He earned STATS and Phil Steele third team All-America honours as a senior, All-Southern Conference First-Team honours for three straight seasons (2016-18) and led the Terriers in sacks and tackles for loss as a junior and a senior.
