The City of Saskatoon is warning of yet another scam. This time it involves a sweepstakes cash prize for residents who pay their City utility account on time.
The City of Saskatoon says it was contacted by a resident who received a call from a man saying he was with a company called “Winners International”. The concerned citizen was told he had been entered into a sweepstakes for paying their utility account on time and was in fact the winner but in order to obtain the winnings they would have to pay 1% of the jackpot.
An internet search shows that “Winners International Payout Services” has been involved in numerous reported scams similar to the one just described. The City of Saskatoon says it would never convey these kinds of messages and neither would Saskatoon Light and Power. It is a scam.
