Correctional Service of Canada says last Tuesday contraband and unauthorized items were seized in the minimum- and maximum-security units at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert which included fentanyl, methamphetamine, THC, tobacco and cell phones. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $452,502.
The police have been notified and the institution is investigating.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says it uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions such as ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions and has also set up a toll-free telephone tip line, 1-866-780-3784, for all federal institutions so that it may receive additional information about activities at Corrections Service of Canada institutions that could be related to drug use or trafficking.
