If you’re a Saskatoon resident, keep in mind new waste collection calendars were issued at the end of the year which may mean a long stretch between pickups. Those whose garbage pickup, for instance, landed on Christmas Day, have traditionally seen garbage picked up within a couple days of the holiday. This year those who would normally have garbage pickup on Monday, won’t have a pickup until this Saturday and after the new year, for some of those neighbourhoods, their regular garbage pickup day moves from Monday to Tuesdays. There are also changes to recycling calendars with some residents posting on social media that their recycling, at a time of year when households generate some of the largest volume of recycling, won’t be picked up anywhere from 19 to 22 days since it was last collected.
