The average retail price for gas in Saskatoon fell 3.9 cents per litre in the past week, averaging at just over $1.24 a litre on Monday. GasBuddy.com reports that the national average has fallen 0.6 c/L to just over $1.40 c/L.
The price in Saskatoon is 12 c/L lower than a year ago at this time, and 16.7 c/L lower than a month ago. Provincially, the average price for gas is just over $1.28, down 3.3 cents from last week’s just over $1.31 per litre.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says after weeks of decline, gas prices have edged higher, but could ease slightly this week ahead of the New Year. “However, with new taxes hitting for many at the turn of the New Year, it may not last long.” He is optimistic though, that we may still have a chance at seeing the first $1.35 cents per litre national average since 2021 sometime before spring arrives.
