Saskatchewan Government Insurance released the results of their November Traffic Safety Spotlight, which focused on impaired driving.
Of the 422 impaired driving offences recorded for the month, there were 269 administrative suspensions, and 153 Criminal Code charges issued.
During November, police also issued 4,803 tickets for offences related to motorists speeding or driving aggressively, 700 tickets were given due to instances of distracted driving (of which, 618 related specifically to cellphone use), and 275 tickets were issued for offences related to car seats and seatbelts.
December’s traffic safety spotlight is also focusing on impaired driving.
