The Grain Services Union is suspending the strike notice it gave to Viterra and will prepare to vote on the company’s latest offer.
In a post on its website, the GSU says unionized employees will be working to rule during the ratification process.
At a meeting this morning, GSU elected representatives decided the latest company offer was different enough from the November offer to have a new vote. The ballots are expected to be counted on January 19th, with voting taking place in the coming days.
Viterra has now issued an update of its own. It says their contract offer is a four year deal that includes a 4.5 per cent salary increase in year one; 3.75 percent in the second year; and 2.5 percent in each of the third and fourth years.
The Grain Services Union represents 436 employees in Viterra’s country elevator division and at the head office in Regina.
