Lumsden RCMP seized about 356 cases of unstamped tobacco Sunday afternoon, which is about 3.56 million cigarettes. Around 1 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 11 near Lumsden. Police say officers noticed evidence the semi was transporting illegal cigarettes. From the search of the semi and trailer, 12-and-a-half pallets of unstamped cigarettes were seized.

Three men were arrested. Twenty-five-year-old Ajay Kumar from Edmonton is facing charges that include charged with possession for the purpose of selling tobacco and unlawful importation of tobacco. He had his first court appearance today (Mon) in Regina Provincial Court.
